Crochet: Happy Days Halter
The Happy Days Halter was designed by the Double Stitch Twins and is available as a free crochet pattern from Red Heart Yarn. I really loved this halter from the moment I saw it and I was able to crochet it pretty quickly. The pattern was extremely easy to follow and the top came out so cute!
The pattern calls for Red Heart Super Saver in three different colors (under one skein each), but I chose to only use white for this one. I did have some trouble trying to figure out how to place the ties on the back of the top, which is simply one large crochet circle, in order to have the top conform nicely to the shape of the torso.
The pattern only used two ties in the back, however I found that this made the bottom of my top look too loose and “ruffly.” I chose to add more tie strings along the sides of the back, which helped to tighten the top but also created this mass of strings in the back (which is not so bad, but in the future I think I will create a back panel that will hold the sides together better).
The top looks amazing and would be perfect during the summer over a tank or a bikini top. Again, I really love patterns that I see have the potential for customization, and this one definitely does!
